A Democratic political action committee (PAC) associated with Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign was discovered soliciting donations via text message shortly after Border Patrol agent Alex Pretti died in Minneapolis. The messages, sent from a toll-free number on Saturday, included the phrase “Alex Pretti is the limit” and urged recipients to donate $50 for a 200% match.
Multiple X accounts shared screenshots of the fundraising text, which appeared to link to a donation page hosted by ActBlue, a prominent Democratic fundraising platform. The PAC’s website and donation page were removed shortly after the messages were posted online.
Public records show that the PAC, known as Democratic Youth Wave, primarily directed funds to Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Its treasurer was identified as a former staffer for a sitting Democratic Congressman in Washington, D.C.
The incident occurred hours after Border Patrol agent Alex Pretti died during an encounter with federal agents in Minneapolis.
