Trump Organization Sets Sights on Australia’s Tallest Building with $1.5 Billion Project

The Trump Organization has announced plans for a $1.5 billion Australian dollar project to construct the country’s tallest tower in Surfers Paradise, Queensland. Once completed, the 91-story building will become Australia’s new skyscraper benchmark, surpassing the current record holder, the Australia 108 in Melbourne.

The development agreement was signed at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on February 14 and is set to begin construction this year, with completion anticipated by the end of the decade. David Young’s Altus Property Group will manage the project while adhering to the Trump Organization’s design specifications.

The tower will feature 272 luxury residences, a six-star resort hotel, premier retail and dining options, and a private beach club. The project is expected to generate at least 500 construction jobs during development and an equivalent number of permanent positions upon opening.

Gold Coast Deputy Mayor Mark Hammel expressed support for the initiative: “We welcome investment in the city. It shows confidence in our city and ultimately creates jobs.”

The site, which had remained vacant for over a decade after being sold by a Chinese developer in 2019, is now set to become the home of Australia’s tallest building.
