Chandler D. Scaggs, a 21-year-old from West Virginia, was tapped for the sniper role. The group’s stated ambition? To “tear down” the United States so it could be “rebuilt.”

The mother of alleged ringleader Tycen C. Proper, 19, called the Knox County Sheriff’s Office after watching her son’s behavior take a dark turn.
