More than a million Obamacare enrollees have no Social Security number on file, according to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz in a video released Saturday. Kennedy directly tied the missing numbers to predecessors’ policies, stating: “The Obamacare marketplace is plagued by fraud in large part because the Biden administration dismantled basic program integrity guardrails.”
The scale of the issue is staggering. A Trump administration official estimated $10 billion in fraud between 2021 and 2024. Nearly 3 million improper enrollments have been removed, with an additional 2.6 million still active. USDA inspector general testimony revealed SNAP benefits flowing to 186,000 deceased individuals and 442,000 applicants with fraudulent Social Security numbers. Meanwhile, Social Security trustees warn the program faces insolvency by late 2032—meaning seniors who paid in for decades could face benefit cuts of up to 25 percent.
